With the cap nut locked in a vise take the wrench and turn the retaining sleeve which has the two flat sides counterclockwise to break the cap nut loose. If you determine that one of them is bad then take the cord wire and move it directly to the motor connection below and secure it with the motor screw. The cord goes on the top connectors and the motor on the bottom. Since it is a double throw switch somtimes you can get away with jumping one side 'the bad side' and getting it to work for a while. Your best bet is to find a used one on ebay.
